Discontinued BandPage Features

In this article, you will find information on:

  • Moving your BandPage profile content to your channel on YouTube
  • BandPage features that will be discontinued on March 1, 2017, and related actions you may take
  • Information on alternative options for discontinued BandPage services that may interest you

Since we joined YouTube in February, we’ve been working with the team on the development of all-new features that will help artists better connect with their fans on YouTube.  As we prepare to launch these new features, we’ll be making important changes to the BandPage service.

On March 1st, 2017 BandPage users will no longer have access to the BandPage editor and the following features will be discontinued:

  • Website widgets
  • public-facing profiles
  • The BandPage Facebook applications
  • BandPage store and event features
  • Facebook and Twitter integrations
  • Custom website
  • Account creation and ability to add new admins

Content that is displayed on BandPage and distributed to partner sites and services through the discontinued features listed above may be deleted from BandPage and will no longer display on partner platforms. Please note this includes any offers sold directly through the BandPage Store, custom website widget integrations and installed Facebook applications.

What do you need to do and when?

Before March 1st, 2017 BandPage users should do the following:

  • Backup your content and data. We want to make sure you don’t lose access to any of your assets or data as features are discontinued.
  • Update BandPage network syndication settings. Until further notice, we will continue to syndicate your artist profile photo and bio to our network partners as per your syndication settings on March 1st, 2017.
  • Explore and set up alternative services for discontinued features you are currently using. Find a list of alternative services at the bottom of this article.
  • Ensure all of the artist profiles you manage are eligible to move to YouTube. To be eligible, you must: 1) have at least a profile photo or bio on the BandPage you wish to move, AND 2) have "Admin" access to the BandPage profile. Learn more about eligibility for the optional move to YouTube here.

Once you’ve taken the steps above that are applicable to you, please take one of these three actions:

Option 1) Join us on YouTube

  • Creating an artist profile on YouTube: If you opt to create an artist profile on YouTube by transferring your photos and bio, your profile will be associated with the specific YouTube channel you select and will be accessible for editing in the new Artist Center section in the YouTube Creator Studio by all channel managers or owners.
  • Note: Once transferred, your photos and bio may be displayed on YouTube properties, such as your channel's "About" tab and YouTube charts. They may also be shared by Google with other Google sites, such as Google+, and Google Play, and Google third party partners, such as the entire BandPage network, under the YouTube Terms of Service.
  • Backup your content and data.  After you create an artist profile on YouTube, your BandPage profile and all assets associated with it will be removed from BandPage and will no longer be accessible to you or any other admins of that profile through the BandPage service.
  • Each BandPage profile’s photos and bio can only be transferred once, and to only one YouTube channel. This action cannot be undone.  Once transferred, we will let other admins of your BandPage profile know that it has been transferred.
  • Your BandPage user account: Transferring all of your BandPage profiles to YouTube does not automatically delete your BandPage user account (i.e. your BandPage log-in), which will remain unless you choose to terminate it.

Option 2) Continue to keep your profile on BandPage

By not taking any action, you may continue to use the BandPage service and its features as usual until the service changes take effect on March 1, 2017.  As of March 1, 2017, your photos and bio will continue syndicating across the BandPage network until further notice based on your most recent syndication settings, so long as you do not terminate your BandPage account. If you select this option and wish to make changes to your BandPage photos, bio, or partner syndication settings after March 1st, 2017, you may notify BandPage’s support team with the changes you wish to make. You will not get access to the new artist features at YouTube through BandPage unless you choose to transfer your photos and bio to YouTube as described above in option 1.  Option 1 will remain available to you even after March 1, 2017.

Option 3) Terminate your BandPage account

By terminating your BandPage account, your content will be removed from the service as described in the Termination section of our Terms of Use. If you are the only admin on a BandPage profile, we will no longer provide that profile’s content to the BandPage syndication network. You will no longer have the opportunity to get access to the new artist specific section in the YouTube Creator Studio through BandPage, as described above.
